About Us

The CMC’s HEalth Economics and Technology Assessment (CHEETA) unit at Centre for Public Health, CMC Vellore, is a newly established unit, focusing on methodological and applied research, aiming to inform clinical and public health practice, resource allocation, and policy locally, nationally, and internationally.

In addition to research, the unit conducts training, workshops, and collaborative projects to build capacity in health economics and decision science, contributing to more efficient, transparent, and equitable healthcare systems

Health economics is defined as the study of choices regarding the optimal use of scarce healthcare resources, focusing on the evaluation of healthcare interventions in terms of their costs and outcomes. It aids decision-making by analyzing efficiency and identifying feasible alternatives in the context of limited resources.
