Dr. C.S. Pramesh is the Director of Tata Memorial Hospital and Professor and Head of Thoracic Surgery at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. He is the Convener of the National Cancer Grid, a large network of 370 cancer centres in India, whose mandate is to provide uniform standards of cancer care across the country. He also serves on the UICC Board of Directors and is a Visiting Professor at the Division of Cancer Studies, King’s College London and the Institute of Cancer Policy, King’s Health Partners, London.
His clinical expertise lies in the surgical treatment of esophageal, lung, mediastinal, and chest wall tumours, with a keen interest in minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery. He is the Principal Investigator in several investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored trials, including the largest randomized trial on radical lymphadenectomy in operable esophageal cancer and the largest randomized trial to screen for upper aerodigestive tract cancers.
Dr. Pramesh has strong interests in clinical trial design, surgical trials, comparative effectiveness research, and cancer policy. He has completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and serves on the advisory boards of WHO, ASCO, and ESMO, among others.
