Dr. P.V. Ramesh is a physician by education and an international development professional by practice, with over 35 years of experience in senior leadership roles across national and international organizations including the Government of India, UNOPS, UNFPA, IFAD, and REC Ltd. He is a 1985-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, and graduated as a medical doctor from Christian Medical College, Vellore. Between 1996 and 2009, he worked with UNOPS, UNFPA, IFAD, and the World Bank across Asia Pacific, West Asia, Arab States, and Africa, assisting governments with economic development strategies, institutional capacity building, and programme execution. Key roles include Additional Chief Secretary and principal advisor to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh; Principal Finance Secretary; Principal Secretary of Medical and Health; Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited; and senior diplomatic assignments with UNOPS, UNFPA, and IFAD. He managed international development finance for thirteen years, public finances for five years, and corporate finance for five years.
