Dr. Solomon Sathishkumar is a Professor of Physiology and the Principal of Christian Medical College, Vellore, one of India’s most prestigious medical institutions. He holds an MBBS and MD in Physiology. In his role as Principal, he provides academic and institutional leadership while continuing to contribute actively to research and medical education.
His research is centred in the Department of Physiology at CMC Vellore, with expertise in chondrocytes, tissue engineering, and mesenchymal stem cells. He has contributed extensively to research on cartilage repair and regenerative medicine, with publications on chondroprogenitor cells, platelet-rich plasma, and osteochondral defect repair in collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Solomon Sathishkumar has also played a significant role in medical education innovation, having contributed to integrated case-based learning approaches at CMC Vellore. He has fostered international academic collaborations, including with the University of Melbourne, reflecting his commitment to advancing global health research and leadership development.
